SNaC
President and Co-Founder Debra Wein, MS,RD, LDN, ACSM -HFI, NSCA- CPT,
is a faculty member at the University of Massachusetts Boston and
adjunct lecturer at Simmons College. Debra is the President and
Co-founder of The Sensible Nutrition Connection (SNaC –
www.sensiblenutrition.com), a consulting firm established in 1994 that
provides nutrition services to individuals, universities, corporate
wellness programs and nonprofit groups. SNaC’s client list includes Blue
Cross Blue Shield, Arnold Worldwide, Harvard Business School, Boston
Ballet and Children’s Hospital. Debra writes a regular nutrition column
for Muscle and Fitness Hers magazine and the National Strength and
Conditioning Association’s Online Performance Journal, has been quoted
in Family Circle, Shape, Self, Men’s Health, Allure and Prevention and
appeared on Fox 25, Channel 56 and Channel 5 news. Debra holds
undergraduate and graduate degrees in nutritional sciences from Cornell
and Columbia Universities.
Christina Economos, Ph.D., the other Co-Founder of SNaC is an Assistant Professor of Nutrition at Tufts University School of Nutrition Science and Policy and a Research Scientist at the Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging at Tufts University. Dr. Economos received a Bachelor of Science from Boston University, a Master of Science in Applied Physiology and Nutrition from Columbia University and a doctorate in Nutrition Science from Tufts University. Her research efforts are focused on the interaction between diet, exercise, body composition, and aging, with an emphasis on techniques that accurately measure and interventions that optimally develop and preserve skeletal muscle and bone mass throughout the lifespan. Dr. Economos directed the largest statewide osteoporosis prevention initiative in the United States for two years prior to joining Tufts.
Both Debra and Chris serve as appointed members of the Massachusetts Governor's Committee on Physical Fitness and Sports.
