weekly discussion includes:

This seminar will show how to make healthy
decisions whether reading the ingredients of food labels or ordering a healthy meal in a
restaurant. Discussions will include:

Label reading.

Where does our food come from?

Food shopping and preparation.

Food and the environment; eating organic, seasonal and local food.
When available, the seminar involves a trip to a
local supermarket, dining out at a restaurant and a healthy cooking demo.

This exercise class, specifically geared to the overweight individual, involves
active participation in the three component areas of cardiovascular/aerobic
exercise, toning/strengthening, and flexibility. Participants leave with a
thorough understanding of how each of the three areas is performed safely and effectively
as well as how these areas can be used to reach their goals. Special sections of stress
management through movement (yoga) and exercising at home are included.

This seminar will teach individuals how to develop their own sports
training diet while fueling their performance before, during and after exercise.

Supplements: Help or Hype?
Which vitamin and minerals offer us health benefits? How much of what
should we take? Which are worth the money? If some is good, is more better?
Week 4
Artificial of
Natural: Which way is the best way?
Are artificial sweeteners a good choice if the product then has
less calories? Review of artificial sweeteners and fat replacements.
